Bad Brückenau

Place of harmony

You are looking for a place full of harmony, with lush nature and friendly people? A place where you can reload your batteries and find yourself? Bad Brückenau is exactly the right place for you! The loveable town of Bad Brückenau is famous for the water of its five spas. It is located at the heart of Germany, south of the nature park and biosphere reserve Rhön Mountains, in the picturesque Sinn Valley, surrounded by pristine forests and lush meadows.

The Franconian town, also known as the “gate to the Rhoen Mountains“, has more to offer than health and wellness: untouched nature guarantees perfect conditions for hiking, cycling and Nordic walking.

The pedestrian zone with its distinct shops invites visitors to stroll along and go shopping. Hotels, cafes and restaurants pamper their guests with warm hospitality and culinary treats. Location and atmosphere of this health and holiday resort let you unwind and leave the buzz of every day life behind for a while. The Bavarian King Ludwig I. soon recognized the wholesome effect of the springs and spent his holidays in this area. This is why Bad Brückenau proudly dubs itself the „Königsbad" (king’s bath). Today the town is well-known as a medical competence centre, and newly weds from all over Germany, wellness fans, hikers and sports people love the health resort.

There is a lot worth being discovered:

  • the Bavarian state spa with kursaal, court and palace hotel from the time of King Ludwig I.
  • Bad Brueckenau’s cosy town centre with small shops and boutiques
  • the Volkersberg with Baroque monastery church and amazing view of the Rhoen Mountains
  • the Kreuzberg monastery on the 928-metres-high Kreuzberg Mountain, the highest mountain in the Bavarian Rhoen Mountains.

Bad Brueckenau can easily and quickly be reached from all directions, via the Rhoen Mountains autobahn A7 Kassel/ Würzburg or the A66, or by ICE to Fulda.

A UNESCO biosphere reserve - the Rhön Mountains

Blackcock Elsgellen Beech Tree

The Rhoen Mountains in the border triangle Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia were recognized as UNESCO biosphere reserve in March 1991 in order to guarantee the protection, cultivation and development of this extraordinary low mountain range. 507 biosphere reserves in more than 94 countries form a world-wide network, which the UNESCO, world organisation for education, science and culture, has developed in its “Man and Biosphere” programme (MAB). The Rhoen Mountains are one of 14 areas which have been recognized as biosphere reserve in Germany.

These reserves are exemplary for the development and implementation of sustainable, ecological utilisation. Furthermore, the biosphere reserves serve application-oriented science, ecological environment observation and environmental education.
