Google Maps county of Bad Kissingen
The unique area of the Rhoen Mountains with its woodless peaks is an ideal hiking realm. You can discover the area on more than 5 000 km of signposted hiking trails.
There is a plethora of interesting destinations: For example the Dreistelz, an enchanting 600-meter high mountain with a look-out, the 700-meter high plateau of the Schwarzen Berge (Black Mountains), which feature one of Bavaria’s biggest outer-alpine nature reserves, or the Sodenberg Mountain, an extinct volcano south of Hammelburg, Franconia’s oldest wine town– to name but a few.
The courses of the rivers Sinn, Thulba and the Franconian Saale are an eldorado for cyclists. The almost flat cycle trails lead you to the ruin of castle Trimberg or to castle Saaleck. For canoeists the Saale River is the ideal destination. On the river you can experience pure and undisturbed nature - where else is this still be possible? For golf enthusiasts there are two golf courses - in Bad Kissingen and in Maria Bildhausen- which are nestled in the natural landscape.
"Wellness" is not just a temporary fashion in the Rhoen area. Even Russian tsars, emperors and kings came to the health resorts of Bad Kissingen, Bad Bocklet and Bad Brückenau to enjoy special health treatments.
Today people relax in modern health and rehabilitation centers or in one of the spas, for example the “Sinnflut”, a modern spa and adventure pool, or the „Vital-Spa“, with its numerous wellness opportunities. Both are located in Bad Brueckenau.
In 2004 the unique spa and therapeutic bath "KissSalis" opened its doors to visitors. It offers luxurious relaxation, fitness and wellness facilities.
In winter the Feuerberg features the only chair lift in the Rhoen Mountains and attracts numerous skiing enthusiasts. There are also several cross-country skiing tracks on the mountain crest as well as hiking lodges to provide proper après ski fun.
