Way of Saint JamesThe name Way of Saint James goes back to James, Son of Zebedee. Together with his brother John he was one of the twelve apostles. The paths leading to the city of Santiago were called „Way of Saint James”.
According to legend, the remains of Jesus Christ are buried in Santiago. At the time of the Spanish Reconquista masses of pilgrims wandered to the grave of Saint James. In Medieval times the city of Santiago used to be one of the main Christian pilgrimage destinations, besides Rome and Jerusalem.
The Saint James’s Way is a network of different trails. Like little streams and brooks the trails lead through countries all over Europe and end up in Spain.
