Berg

Welcome to Berg

BergThe community of Berg consists of 14 districts: Berg, Bachhausen, Aufhausen, Farchach, Harkirchen, Martinsholzen, Mörlbach, Höhenrain, Allmannshausen, Assenhausen, Sibichhausen, Aufkirchen, Leoni and Kempfenhausen.

The history of the royal family of Wittelsbach is closely connected with Berg Palace from where King Ludwig II. went and found his death in Lake Starnberger See on June 13th, 1886.

The palace was erected 1640 at the insigation of Georg von Hörwarth on the site of a former mansion. The young king Ludwis II. loved living and working here, just like many of his ancestors.  Other celebrities of the time came to visit and thus this small place became a meeting place of the great of the world like the empresses of Russia and Austia: Maria Alexandrowna and Elisabeth.
