... the gate to the Bavarian Forest. The Bogenberg, with its Gothic pilgrimage church, towers majestically and well-visible above the old counts’ town and the Danube River – wherever you come from, the mountain welcomes you from a far distance.
In Bogen visitors will find comfortable hotels, best-equipped holiday apartments, cozy inns and private pensions. Let yourself be pampered, unwind, enjoy – because you are guest in.
Discovery tours
Bogen is especially well-known and popular with cyclists. Well-developed cycle trails lead bike enthusiasts across the Danube’s pastures, along the old railway line into the Bavarian Forest or onto the Bogenberg Mountain – the diversified landscape offers plenty of opportunities for a longer or shorter bike tour all year round. There is for example the Kultur-Tour (culture tour), the Biergarten Tour (beer garden tour) and the Tour Links und Rechts der Donau (tour to the left and the right of the Danube), which are all perfect day tours for families with kids.
Cultural life
First impressions are usually right. Bogen welcomes its guests with warm hospitality. The authentic Lower Bavarian town square with its blind gable buildings, the spire of the Church of St. Florian, which towers above the square, the modern fountain in front of the town hall… Most of all, Bogen is famous for being the home of the white-and-blue Bavarian lozenge emblem and the pilgrimage to the Bogenberg mountain, which has taken place on Whitsunday for more than 500 years.
But the city has even more to offer – after all its history dates back to the 8th century. The local history museum features precious objects of art and culture from different areas. The collection conveys an impressive image of the local history and customs.
