Culture and Tradition

Former Carthusian monastery, very well preserved; three cells have been renovated and set up as a museum which can be visited by tourists. Guided tours round the Carthusian Museum (Phone: +49-(0)83 31 / 6 18 04, Fax +49-(0)83 31 / 96 34 29). Monastery church with stucco work by the brothers Zimmermann and the famous choir stools, a work of art of European significance. The monastery church, built by Dominikus Zimmermann, the architect of the famous Wieskirche, and also the Anna-Kapelle chapel, a mature work of the rococo period.
