Highlights of the Lake Chiemsee Region

The Chiemsee region offers a wide range of cultural events. Enjoy classic concerts in the great hall of mirrors at the royal castle Herrenchiemsee, exciting perfomances on the outdoor stage right at the lake  or Bavarian festivals where the locals get a chance to display their traditional costumes. Lake Chiemsee caters for all tastes.

Apart from manifold events, various important sights are part of the region's cultural heritage. Particularly the Chiemsee islands: A visit to the castle of King Ludwig the Second on Herrenchiemsee (Genlemen's Island) is a must for every visitor, and the picturesque fishing village on Frauenchiemsee (Ladies Island) is an ideal place for a romantic stroll.

Other highlights of the Chiemsee area are Castle Hohenaschau, the Celtic settlement Seebruck and the Automobile Museum in Amerang.
