Welcome to Erkheim

Erkheim – central location within the Kneipp county of Lower Allgäu.

Conveniently located on the A96 and B18, near Sontheim station, and with road access to Ottobeuren and Babenhausen, Erkheim is a perfect starting point for day trips to regional destinations.

The cities of Munich, Augsburg and Ulm, Lake Constance, the Allgäu Alps, Legoland near Günzburg and the Bavarian royal palaces near Füssen can be reached within an hour’s drive. Erkheim offers countless options for sports activities: an outdoor pool, Kneipp facilities, cycling and hiking trails around Erkheim, sports facilities with tennis courts, riding stables and a gym. The “Günzläufe” with the newly designed “Platz der Freundschaft” or the cosy inns with beer gardens and skittle alleys are great places to take a rest.

The “Erste Allgäu Schwäbische Dorfschulmuseum” in Daxberg with its alternating exhibitions on the attic floor provides information about the life in a village school. Numerous club festivities, the traditional Erkheim folk festival on the 2nd weekend of July, the Erkheim Nikolaus-Straßenlauf as well as the traditional Klausenumzug with market offer diversified entertainment, just like the concerts of the local band, the choirs and other music groups.

In and around Erkheim there are trails for hiking and Nordic walking. The trails were selected and sign-posted by Thomas Schütz and the Xund Stammtisch Erkheim. The trails’ starting points are the parking lot near the sports club and the parking lot near the cemetery.
