Grape-variety learning paths, as well as a look over a vintner's should teaches wine expertise.
Silvaner, Bacchus, Müller-Thurgau: What is the difference between those three grape sorts, and what makes a certain vintage wine a good one? Two of many questions that the vinters of the Mainschleife, at the heart of the Franconian Wine Country, will be happy to answer.
Visitors here have many options to learn about wine. The first option can be found in the vineyard themselves, on the Grape-variety learning paths ("Rebsortenlehrpfade") where all sorts of information on wine is generously distributed.
During the tours on the learning paths near Escherndorf, Nordheim, Sommerach, or Volkach, the experience is not limited to "dry" information but includes wine testing. Another advantage of those learning paths is that they offer a wonderful view on the Mainschleife vineyards.
The second route to wine expertise leads directly
to the vintners, the impersonation of wine cultivation. He will allow looks over his shoulder as well as into his private wine cellar, where a secret or two may be found.
Another form of wine experience can be had at at the vintners' cooperative of the Mainschleife. Wine experts will grant you a look behind the scenes here; any visit to a vintner will be topped off with a bit of wine testing.
