This bicycle route across the hilly landscape at the foothills of the Alps offers charming views onto the Alps, idyllic lakes and forests.
The route leads from Lindau at Lake Constance into the hilly, well-wooded Allgäu landscape at the foothills of the Alps past the lakes Großer Alpsee, Rottach-Stausee and Hopfensee towards Füssen.
From Füssen onwards, you use the biclycle route "Romantic Road" to Halblech or the Wieskirche. The German Alpine Biclycle Route then branches off in eastern direction along the "King's Path" (Königsweg), leads on woodland paths through the forests of the Ammergau Alps, past Bad Kohlgrub and the Murnauer Moos (Murnau Bog) to Eschenlohe.
From Eschenlohe the route leads along River Loisach in northeastern direction to Lake Kochelsee and through the Loisach moors, partly using the "Prelate Cycling Trail" (Prälaten-Radweg), to Bad Tölz. Here you can change onto the Isar Cycling Trail (Isarradweg).
From Bad Tölz, the Lake Constance - Lake Königssee cycling trail leads towards the Inn Valley Cycling Trail (Inntalradweg) past the lakes Tegernsee and Schliersee, crosses the River Inn and then leads into the Saline Cycling Trail (Salinen-Radweg) at Lake Chiemsee which brings you to Berchtesgaden and Lake Königssee.
The route mainly follows paved country lanes or light traffic roads. At some places there are major climbs and descents. We recommend an arrival at Lindau by 10 am at the latest.
