Day 3: Knight's tournament (usually in July)
The next day offers an insight into medieval times. A joustling tournament was a high-ranking social event, a circus with exciting show fights, musical performances and a market. Only real knights were allowed to take part. They often spent a small fortune on a noble horse, knight's armour and arms. Various contests fascinated the audience.
30 years ago, Prince Luitpold of Bavaria, great-grandson of Bavaria's last king, realized a dream: He organized a
knight's tournament - the Kaltenberger Ritterspiele - with all there is to it: lances, swords, noble horses, gleaming armour, standards and fanfare. More than 1200 performers, musicians, jugglers, acrobats and actors take part in this event. The
programme changes every year.
Overnight stay in Munich.
Day 4: Andechs

Enjoy Bavarian convivality and visit the monastery's beer garden and taste a typical Bavarian snack and beer brewed in the monastery's brewery.
