With its attractive location between the plains of the River Main and the foothills of the Odenwald Mountains, the market town of Großostheim with its districts Pflaumheim, Wenigumstadt and Ringheim and its 16,500 inhabitants is the hub of the Bachgau. Großostheim is a modern industrial location with high living and leisure quality.

The Nöthigsgut, the feudal manor of the Cathedral Provost, with several wings and late medieval decorative timber framing of the 16th century, houses the regionally important Bachgaumuseum and the highly frequented music school. Many guests from near and far come to visit the parish church of St. Peter and Paul, which dates back to the early Gothic, to see the world-famous altar by Tilman Riemenschneider.

Cosy inns offer products of the 30 hectares of vineyards of local wine-growers as well as the beer of the largest private brewery in Bavaria. 1,200 hectares of ecologically farmed forests are perfect for hiking and relaxation.
