Welcome to Großweil

Großweil ia a small, up-and-coming community which is situated on River Loisach in the Upper Bavarian foothills of the Alps.

Approximately 1,400 inhabitants live in this rural community, spread over the localities Großweil, Kleinweil, Zell as well as the hamlets Pölten, Stern, Gröben and on the premises of the open-air-museum "Glentleiten".

Everything is done to keep the rural character of the community and to avoid urbanization.

Cultural life is mainly organized by local associations. The open-air museum "Glentleiten" is the most important place of interest with its farm houses, corner shop, alps, mills and workshops which illustrate life as it used to be 50 to 250 years ago.
