The Gothic Franciscan Basilica, built in 1275, is the impressively austere church of the mendicant order and houses a special historical treasure. Roughly ninety graves of governors, professors, officers and other high-ranking residents bear witness to the period from 1472-1800. Valuable and unusually well preserved memorial plaques adorn the walls, the pillars and the side chapels of the otherwise simple Church of the Friars Minor. They are of high artistic quality and are witness to the life and work of respected residents of Ingolstadt.
