Glacis and Klenzepark

Klenzepark

Like the magnificent fortifications, the Glacis is very much an integral part of the medieval image of Ingolstadt. The wide green girdle that completely surrounds the old town corresponds to the field of fire that previously had to be kept free in front of the fortress complexes. Today, in more peaceful times, the inhabitants of Ingolstadt and the guests of the city enjoy the fact that they can reach the green area within few minutes from the city centre.

Only a stone's throw away, the award-winning Klenzepark on the opposite side of the Danube invites you to walk, jog, cycle or simply just laze about. There are spacious open green areas, a labyrinth consisting of plants and flowers, a play village for children, a beer garden and aromatic gardens laid out in the midst of the magnificent fortress complex. Art exhibitions and other events take place in the riding hall.
