For 30 years, from 1746-76, the lawyer Johann A. Baron of Ickstatt, guided the fate of the Hohe Schule as principal. A representative of the Enlightenment, he is regarded as a reformer of the Bavarian school system. His home, the so-called Ickstatthaus, is among the outstanding sights of Ingolstadt, boasting the highest baroque facade in southern Germany.
