Kaltenberg Knights´ Tournament 2009

The Kaltenberg Knights´ Tournament is the largest tournament of modern times.  Approx. 120,000 visitors come to Kaltenberg Castle each July, to step back into the Middle Ages, to see the Great Tournament, to stroll across the largest medieval market and to see an 8 hour programme set on seven stages. The increasing success of each years tournament, has inspired the creators of the Kaltenberg Knights´ Tournament to produce an even more spectacular show than before. A show which will probably be performed in front of more than 10,000 spectators!

A medieval show – and what a show it will be! A show with knights, incredibly beautiful horses and outstanding riders and with breathtaking stunts performed by horse/rider teams.

Once again, scripted by the multi-talented Mario Luraschi – scriptwriter, stunt co-ordinator and director.

But this event isn't just about knights jousting! The medieval market and additional events on seven different stages offer new attractions in 2009 too!

Once again, traders will be offering their medieval wares on approx. 100 stands covering an area of more than 100,000 square meters. Of course, I will personally ensure – as I have done each year - that you, our esteemed guests, receive only high quality products at reasonable prices.

Well over 1,000 artists will be involved in the happenings at Kaltenberg Castle: in streets and squares and on stage. You will meet old acquaintances (many of whom I now consider to be old friends), and be surprised by attractions you haven´t seen here before: altogether quite an exciting mixture.

Kaltenberg wouldn´t rise to its name if it didn't serve its famous King Ludwig Dunkel(beer) and excellent food. Once again, it will be great value for money. Kaltenberg has always been mapped out as an event for the whole family and so it shall remain. The arena show and the above mentioned additional programmes are equally suitable and exciting for children, teenagers and adults.

Finally, I would like to point out, that due to its overwhelming success over the past three years, the Kaltenberg Jesters´ Night will take place this year too. Although this will only be the 5th Jesters´ Night, for many active and passive participants, it has already achieved cult status.

Knights´Tournament days are:

Premiere on July 3rd, with spectacular fireworks in the night sky over Kaltenberg.

July the 17th, 18th and 19th

Opening Times at Day Events (5/11/12 and 19/7/2009)

Grounds open at 11:00.
Knights´ tournament in the arena starts at 15:30 till 17:30
Grounds close at 20:00.

Opening Times at Evening Events (3/4/10/17 and 18/7/2009)

Grounds open at 16:00.
Knights´ tournament in the arena starts at 20:00 till 22:00
Grounds close at 00:30.

Important: About Tickets

We would advise you to book your tickets very soon! The Knights´ Tournament is usually sold out.

The following types of tickets are available for the Knights´ Tournament:

• Reserved seat in the arena (the „normal“ Kaltenberg ticket): 22-36 Euro
• Box seats (covered/limited quantity only): 49 Euro

With both tickets you have admission to all attractions, including the two hour Knights´ Tournament.

Children under 6 have free admittance (no seating in the arena!).
Children from 6 to 15 get a 5 Euro discount on any day – except on July 5th which is family day with a 10 Euro discount for children from 6 to 15.
There is NO discount on box seats.
Severely handicapped persons (50% or more) are entitled to a 2 Euro discount.
Persons in wheelchairs have free admittance; no discount for accompanying persons.
There is a 2 Euro discount on seating tickets for groups of 30 or more.
All tickets are subject to an additional 10% advancebooking fee + 1.20 Euro system fee per ticket .
