Klosterlechfeld

Welcome to Klosterlechfeld

The origin of this village was a chapel "Maria Hilf" (errected 1603-4 by Elias Holl) and the foundation of a settlement at the old trading road to Italy. What used to be a modest church soon became a well-known pilgimage place and had to be expanded. It was last changed at the end of the 17th century and is one of the region's most beautiful rococo churches today.

Another sight of Klosterlechfeld is the monastery that was built at roughly the same time (1606). A few decades later it had become too small as well and a new monastery building was errected, then extended and developed until 1738. Franciscan monks lived and worked there till 1993.

Klosterlechfeld can claim one of the most beautiful village squares of the region, the Franziskanerplatz. Main attraction are its old trees.
