Lohr on River Main

Welcome to Lohr on River Main

This historic town in the middle of the Spessart forests is called gate to Spessart.  Lohr was first mentioned as early as 1296 and received the town charter in 1333.

Historic (half-timbered) buildings in the picturesque Old Town mirror a rich past (town hall, Bayersturm, town's parish church, abbey, Kurmainzer Palace (Kurmainzer Schloss), baroque church and Steinbach Palace (Schloss Steinbach).

There are over 300 km designated archeological culture and hiking trails through unspoilt landscape. Ships take visitors on a trip on River Main.  There are numerous leisure facilities like tennis centre and courts, heated outdoor pool, indoor pool with sauna and solarium, nature trail, bowling alley, crazy golf, boat harbour and many playgrounds.

The Spessart Museum shows the cultural history of Spessart: gaffer's art, history of the mirror manufactories with Snow White's mirror and much more. A school museum, the municipal gallery with changing exhibitions and a town's library complete the cultural offers.
