Maßbach is the seat of the administrational community of Maßbach, which consists of the communities of Maßbach, Rannungen and Thundorf in Lower Franconia. A hiking trip through the Lauer Valley or the Ransbach Valley, a tributary valley of the Lauer, is very romantic: wide and narrow valley floors, happily gurgling brooks, hidden mills, colourful meadows and fields and forests framing the valley. With an outdoor swimming pool, a skittle alley, tennis courts and fishing facilities it does not get boring in Maßbach. Cyclists can enjoy themselves on sign-posted and depicted cycling trails. Between Maßbach and Poppenlauer you will find the Ellertshäuser Lake with various options for recreation.
