Germany's most famous artist, Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528) was born in Nuremberg. Today the Albrecht Dürer-Haus where this world-renowned artistic genius lived and worked is the main attraction of the "Historical Mile". With the "Germanisches Nationalmuseum", Nuremberg has the largest museum of German art and culture, and with Hirsvogel Hall, it is the home of the most important Renaissance interior north of the Alps.
Nuremberg's extensive museum landscape, including the New Museum and the Kunsthalle with contemporary art, as well as the Museum for Industrial Culture and the DB Museum Nuremberg shedding light on the history and culture of the industrial age, or focussing on Nuremberg's tradition as a city of toys in the Toy Museum, have attracted numerous visitors to the city.
