The county of Nuremberg is part of the administrative district of Central Franconia and borders the urban agglomeration of Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen.

While the western part is mainly influenced by the urban agglomeration, the eastern part is more rural. The county measures 45 km from north to south and 30 km from east to west. The surface area is 800.9 km².

The county of Nuremberg is home to numerous nationally and internationally renowned companies. Innovation is a prerequisite for economies with a future. The county’s companies are market leaders in many areas, from engineering ceramics to micro electronics and metal pigments.

Due to its central location within Europe as well as its ideal transport connection the county has become a key transportation hub between the East and the West.
