In Pfaffenwinkel, horses are part of the landscape.
But just how great a love this really is, can be seen in Rottenbuch on a visit to Germany's largest market for carthorse foals...
„Aufgspuit“ ("aufgspuit“: bavarian dialect, means "let us play (music) now") - get together in joy and celebration. So many festivities, always in traditional costume, always with horses. For instance the costume pilgrimage up to the Hohe Peißenberg: Lederhosen (leather pants), corsages, Gamsbart. Whole families in complete attire. Edelweiss flowers, stitched on suspenders, or as hat decoration.
Always the spirit of country fairs: There is always a reason to celebrate. With cool beer, bavarian "Brotzeit" (a meal or snack consisting of bread, cheese and cold cuts etc.) and music.
