Welcome to Ramsau

An idyllic mountain village, embedded in the picturesque landscape of the  National Park Berchtesgadener Land. Ramsau has always drawn artists and romantics. You will understand why, once you have ambled through the enchanting Zauberwald ("Enchanted Wood") or rowed on the turquoise-colored Lake Hintersee, where once stood a paiters' hostel.

The beauty of this landscape is amazing: the breathtaking Wimbachklamm (Wimmbach gorge), the Blaueisgletscher (a glacier) and the rough rock faces of the Ramsau Dolomite Alps or the dreamy Lake Taubensee ("Dove Lake") with its water lilies.

190 kilometers of alpine trails and steep tracks lead you through this largely unspoiled landscape. The fresh mountain air which is almost free of pollen is favourable for the lungs. On the Soleleitungsweg (trail along the old brine pipline) you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view without strenuous climbs.

Be it environment-friendly alpine farming or religious traditions: the descendants of the Ramsau mountain farmers keep customs and traditions alive. Magnificent traditional comstumes, folk music and true Bavarian „Gemütlichkeit“ (conviviality) shape their lives.

Guests can relax in the recreational park (Bergkurgarten) with its facility for hydropathic (Kneipp) treatment. In winter you will find sledding runs, cross-country skiing runs and the family ski-region Hochschwarzeck right on your doorstep. Ice scating and Bavarian curling are possible on the frozen Lake Hintersee, surrounded by captivating landscape.
