Active Vacations in the Rhoen Region

In the Rhoen Mountains the possibilities for active sportsmen and women are unlimited: pick and choose from hiking, nordic walking, cycling, canoeing, golf, tennis, squash, horse riding, ice skating, ice hockey and gliding. From the town of Bad Kissingen you can discover the whole area by bike on marked flat cycle trails. Without steep slopes a trip by bike can be relaxing and fun.

The Rhoen Mountains might be the birthplace of hiking: in 1883 the first German Hiking Day took place in the town of Fulda. The hiking trails of the Nature Park and the Rhoen Club lead you through the diversified landscape of this low mountain range. These trails are very popular with pilgrims, who make their way to the "sacred mountain of the Franconians", the Kreuzberg Mountain (928m) near Bischofsheim.
