Google-Maps Romantic Franconia

The Franconian Region extends from the “Romantic Road” in the West until shortly before Nuremberg in the East. It is the largest Franconian vacation region in terms of area, and has kept its Ur-Franconian peculiarity through the centuries.
The Region is subtitled “from Rangau to the Romantic Road”. That means here are two vacation regions combined into one. The old, grown cultural landscape of Rangau at the gates of Nuremberg with its county seat of Ansbach seamlessly connects with the country around the Romantic Road with its towns Rothenburg ob der Tauber, which offers a glance at the Middle Ages, or Dinkelsbühl, with its beautifully preserved historic city center.
Especially charming is the combination of rural idyll, romantic timber-framed towns, and Hohenzollern residence and county seat Ansbach, the “City of Franconian Rococo”.
The beautiful landscape features plenty of sights: It is blessed with fields, meadows, and forests, offering numerous options for leisure recreation. A large part of this vacation region is part of the Nature Park Frankenhöhe covering 1,100 sq.km. It is one Southern Germany’s most sunny areas, and one of the most thinly populated regions in Bavaria, with only 60 residents per square kilometer.
This area is located North East to the well-known town Rothenburg ob der Tauber, bordering on the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. Extreme weather fluctuations are rare in this sunny climate, having
earned federal recognition for Burgbernheim. Dietenhofen, Feuchtwangen, and Schillingfürst. It offers healthy conditions not only for local residents but also for many plants and animal species.
It therefore comes as no surprise that the region is crosses by two major tourist routes: The Castle Road (also going from Tothenburg to Colmberg, Ansbach, and Lichtenau).
So, what are you waiting for: Go ahead and take your vacation to Romantic Franconia; dive right into this blend of idyllic nature and romantic towns.
