North of the motorway A 3, in a long, softly sloping valley, the Spessart shows itself in the best light. Sailauf and its district Eichenberg are located at the foot of the Hochspessart. Sailauf is one of the oldest settlements in the Vorspessart. As early as 1080 the Urkirche church was built here for the upper Aschaff Valley. The romanesque defence tower of the St. Vitus church has been conserved until today and is still visible from far.
The conservation and cultivation of the varied and diversified Vorspessart landscape is of highest importance to the community. A cultural path of the archaeological Spessart project and clearly sign-posted hiking trails lead across fruit orchards, cultivated valleys, natural streams, lakes and large forests.
The original village tavern and the beautifully located country guest house extend a warm welcome to their guests – just like the five star hotel with exclusive spa. In Sailauf the cultivation of tradition and culture is a top priority. At weekends hikers find people merrily celebrating at the fairground, at the hiker club’s BBQ area or at other cosy spots.
Apart from that, Sailauf is a sought-after business location. At the business park near the A 3 the large automobile supplier Magna operates the most modern automobile test centre in the world on an area of 30,000 square metres.
Due to its scenic location, good perspectives and convenient location Sailauf has become a popular place of residence, which also ensures a pleasant stay for day trippers.
