Salt Mine Berchtesgaden

Salt Mine BerchtesgadenThe popular salt mine at Berchtesgaden, with hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, is definitely worth a visit. Mascot “Pauli” will explain in a new film how the “white gold” forms and how it is mined.

It’s great fun to go down the wooden slides or to go on a raft ride on the underground salt lake, surrounded by light effects and a mining sound show. Combine your trip with a visit to the most beautiful saline in the world, the Old Saline in Bad Reichenhall, only 20 km from Berchtesgaden. Young and old can visit the bubbling salt springs, see masterpieces of engineering and find out many interesting facts about salt in the past and the present.

If your child would like to have a very special underground birthday party with Pauli the salt mine offers special tours with unlimited runs down the 40-meter-long slides and a little bite to eat in the mine (on request). Birthday girls and boys get a free tour through the salt mine and the Old Saline (ID required).
