Welcome to Schönau on Lake Königssee

Schönau is the touristic center of the Berchtesgadener Land due to its privileged location on Lake Königssee. This amazing lake streches out like an emerald-green mirror between steeply rising rocks amidst the National Park Berchtesgaden. Waterfalls feed this fjord-like lake that is up to 200 meters deep and counts as the cleanest lake in German.

Enjoy this truly majestic panorama from above: the Jennerbahn (cablecar) takes you effortlessly up to Mount Jenner (1,800 meters) where you can walk through the unspoilt nature of the National Park or even lift off with a paraglider.

In winter, Mount Jenner with its challenging ski runs and magnificent powder snow slopes is the largest skiing area in the Berchtesgadener Land.
