The Diocesan City at the North-Eastern gate to Steigerwald; the town has been declared a World Heritage Site as a whole, due to its 1000 years of history and to its remarkable building fabric.
The historic center has not a single street, not one building, that wouldn't impress with its special features. The cathedral, with the smaller structures and gardens surrounding it, can't be described in words; it leaves a lasting impression on any visitor.
The World Heritage Site Bamberg is a city with original charm and a very special atmosphere. Enjoy one of the many cultural highlights: Concerts of the Symphonic Orchestra, culinary specialties such as Bamberg's own „Rauchbier“ (a sort of „smoked“ tasting beer), museums of European significance, and, last but not least, a variety of festivals.“Sandkerwa“ is one of Franconia's most original folk festivals: It has been taken place on the fourth weekend in August since 1950, and it's always worth a visit if you're vacationing somewhere near. Allow yourself to be charmed by the unique atmosphere of Bamberg!
A single North-South connection crosses Steigerwald and its calming mixed wooded heights, its dreamy valleys and meadows; it cuts across all the East-West mountain ranges, offering wonderful panorama views on the way. This „Heights Road“ does not only coss the most charming country spots, but it is also a „Road of Culture“, and a „Road of Art“: It brings you to towns with historically significant parochial and profane buildings of all styles, with castles and palaces, with lovely pieces of art even in the smallest village church: In shrines, road chapels, crucifixes, ancient stone crosses by the roadside – surprising treats of all kinds for art lovers.

The Steigerwald Community Geiselwind in the valley of „Reiche Ebrach“ is surrounded by 15 nighbourhoods and vast forests. Many visitors know Geiselwind mainly for its famous amusement park, or as the place to meet fellow trucker and country music lovers.
The amusement park is certainly a highlight for kids of all ages: With 400,000 sqm it is Bavaria's largest park of that kind. Besides the racy rides, there are show events, animal performances, and a lot more. Come between April and October for the spectacular roller-coaster rides!
