Oberammergau located in the mountains and the wide Ammer Valley truly is a paradise for cross-country skiers. This is why the elite of cross-country skiing professionals meet here every first weekend of February for the famous "König-Ludwig-Langlauf". But this area is not only suitable for professionals, also the less advanced skiers will find many tracks that suit their skills. The large network of tracks with a total length of 50km can be used free of charge.

84km of cross-country skiing tracks guarantee unlimited fun for winter sports enthusiasts. At the end of the day you can warm up and relax in one of the sauna facilities at the Watzmann Spa.

The Chiemgau Area and the cross-country skiing Mecca of Ruhpolding

The Chiemgau is a cross-country skiing paradise, with well-prepared skiing tracks almost everywhere. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts and skaters enjoy the area alike. A particular treat are the tracks by the Winklmoosalm, close to the Winklmoos-Steinplatte, located at a height of 1100m. In the Chiemgau you will also find flood-light tracks, for example in Siegsdorf-Rudhart, Ruhpolding, Reit im Winkl and in Schleching.

The highlight of the area is the Chiemgau marathon track. Not only due to its length of 30km but also due to its course and snow guarantee. It connects the three winter sport resorts Inzell, Ruhpolding and Reit im Winkl. Parts of the route lead through the Chiemgau Alps natural reserve.

Located between the rivers Isar and Loisach you will find 200 km of cross-country skiing tracks that offer a great view of the snowy alps. Particulary the small tracks in the villages add to the area’s attractiveness and diversity, no matter if you prefer the classic technique or skating.

If the snow conditions are good and stable there is a cross-country ski track on the Herrenchiemsee island on lake Chiemsee - within beautiful surroundings and a unique, wintery atmosphere. Even the journey there is pretty unusual because you get there by boat.
