Many people automatically think of Würzburg as a city of wine and wine events. Well, they are right - but there is so much more to it: visitors as well as residents appreciate the variety of leisure-time and sports activities the area offers – the Romantic Road, the hike-and-bike tracks, the charming landscape which again and again bears witness of the county’s long and rich history. Events such as the annual knight plays in Aub, the Castle Brattenstein open-air theater in Röttingen, the Florian-Geyer plays in Giebelstadt, the Veit Relin Tower Gate Theater in Sommerhausen skillfully and successfully combine history and entertainment.

Julius-Maximilian University and Technical College, South German plastics center, Fraunhofer Institute for silicate research represent the high educational quality within the county. Most of the graduates remain in the county.
