This church was founded and donated by the baroque artist and architect brothers Asam. It is dedicated to St. Johann Nepomuk but only known as Asamkirche (Asam Church).

It is located right next to Egid Quirin Asam's residence in Sendlinger Straße and was built during the years 1733 to 1746.

The brothers Asam were able to fully use their effervescent imagination and skill and to create a church according to their own artistic concept. The result is a house of God brimming with exuberant interior that expresses the baroque zest for life.

The church was destroyed in World War II. and carefully renovated during the following years.

Accessible by weelchair through the side entrance by the sacristy. We recommend to phone in advance: +49-(0)89-2 60 91 71.

Sendlinger Straße 62
80331 München

The church ist not open to sightseers during service.
