Welcome to Leipheim

Leipheim is a beautiful Swabian town located on the River Danube. The town’s inhabitants are outgoing, warm-hearted and always up for a laugh. When you arrive at the town, you will realize how much it has to offer. There is for example the ensemble of the castle courtyard, consisting of the cultural house, the "Zehntstadel", the "Blaue Ente" - the town’s museum (-to-be) of local history and peasant wars – and the Leipheim Castle.

In addition, there is a great outdoor garden swimming pool, and the nature reserve of Donaumoos, one of the last fens in Europe, with rare species of animals and plants. Due to an extensive network of cycle trails leading across the whole county, the area is also a popular destination amongst cyclists.

Diversified free-time fun on and along the Bavarian Danube

Highlight of the area – particularly for families with kids – is LEGOLAND® Deutschland in Günzburg – located about five kilometres from Leipheim. Visitors are fascinated by the 50 million LEGO® stones incorporated in the exhibits, as well as by the more than 40 attractions and shows. With more than 1.3 million visitors every year the park is Bavaria’s tourist destination number one, even beating Neuschwanstein Castle.

Almost as colourful as the world of LEGO® stones is the colourful mixture of free-time activities offered in Leipheim and surroundings. There is plenty to do: the garden swimming pool in Leipheim with its giant water slide and fantastic sauna facilities is a popular place with water lovers, summer and winter alike. You prefer splashing about in a lake? No problem: you’ll find countless lakes in the Donaumoos area. And something else can be found there: an “African Oasis” – the Ostrich Farm Donaumoos. There is also a plethora of cycling and inline skating trails, ranging from day tours for families to short trips. Hikers can stroll along the beautiful paths on the Danube and relax within the beautiful surroundings of the floodplain forests.

Schloß LeipheimLeipheim also offers plenty to see for those interested in culture. The old town’s sights can be discovered on the historic walking trail. Right next to Leipheim Castle, visitors can stop for a bite to eat at the “Zehntstadel“ and spend an unforgettable night, enjoying one of the cultural events hosted there.

The county of Guenzburg, which is also known as the “area for families and kids“, also offers plenty to do. And if you like you could also take a trip to Ulm, Augsburg, Munich or Neuschwanstein, all of which are only one hour’s drive away.
