Piding lies in the middle of Berchtesgaden County only six kilometers north of Bad Reichenhall.

The landscape in which this village is set is easily recognizable as a natural geographic unit. It is bordered by the Saalach River in the South-East, by the mountains Fuderheuberg and Hochstaufen in the South-West, and by Högl Mountain in the North. The valley basin is only open in the Western direction. In the North-East, River Saalach also acts as the border to Austria and Salzburg County.
